The Alexandra Richmond Foundation was created in loving memory of Alexandra Richmond, an extraordinary wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, animal lover, and one of the kindest souls to ever grace this world.
In July 2022, Alexandra was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. What followed was a courageous and relentless fight that included chemotherapy, a full gastrectomy, a partial esophagectomy, immunotherapy, and countless other treatments, procedures, and hospital visits. After achieving remission in February 2023, there was hope for the future. Sadly, in June 2024, the cancer returned as metastatic disease, and Alexandra began indefinite treatment, facing every challenge with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace.
To know Alexandra was to know kindness, positivity, and unconditional love. No matter what she endured, she rarely complained. Through every treatment, every setback, and every difficult day, she carried herself with dignity and courage, inspiring everyone around her. She fought harder than anyone could imagine and remained a survivor in every sense of the word.
Throughout her journey, Alexandra was surrounded by the unwavering love of her family. Her devoted husband, Bradley Richmond, stood faithfully by her side every step of the way. Together they built a beautiful family with their beloved children, Olivia and Ethan Richmond, who were the center of Alexandra's world. She was a deeply loving, present, and devoted mother who cherished every moment with her children and loved them beyond measure.
Alexandra also shared an extraordinary bond with her mother, Doris Ashley Protheroe, and her twin sister, Victoria Landau. Alexandra and Victoria's connection was truly unique. Together from the very beginning, they attended college side by side, lived together in New York City, raised their families close to one another, and remained an essential part of each other's daily lives. Their relationship was built on unconditional love, loyalty, laughter, strength, and understanding. Theirs was a rare bond that words can scarcely describe.
Together, Alexandra's family became caregivers, advocates, and fighters alongside her, traveling far and wide and consulting doctors around the world in a relentless search for treatments, hope, and ultimately a cure. Though the miracle they so desperately hoped for was not found, Alexandra never stopped fighting and never stopped believing.
Alexandra did not want to leave this world. She held on with incredible courage and determination, fighting with everything she had. When she passed away in September 2025, she left an unimaginable void in the lives of those who loved her most. Yet her spirit, love, and strength remain deeply woven into their hearts.
Alexandra had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her warmth, beautiful smile, and uplifting spirit drew people to her naturally. She touched countless lives and built lifelong friendships rooted in authenticity, compassion, and love.
The Alexandra Richmond Foundation was created so that Alexandra's legacy continues to make a difference. Through raising awareness, advancing research, and supporting progress toward earlier detection, better treatments, and cures for esophageal cancer, the Foundation seeks to help future patients and families facing this devastating disease, while carrying forward Alexandra's enduring legacy of resilience, kindness, hope, and love.
